Rs 211 cr plan for rehabilitation of Bursar project affected families : Asiea Naqash | KNO

Minister of State for Power, Health and Medical Education Asiea Naqash, while replying to a question of Firdous Ahmad Tak, informed that a revised plan of Rs 211.41 crore has been framed for Resettlement & Rehabilitation (R&R) of people to be affected due to the construction of Bursar project in Kishtwar district. The Minister informed the Bursar Project, estimated to cost Rs 2458938 crore, is planned as a storage scheme on River Marusudar- the right bank tributary of Chenab River, having installed Capacity of 800 MW. The Minister informed that two Power Houses have been proposed for Bursar project- one surface Power House complex of 680MW (4x170 MW) capacity near village Lopara, on the right bank of river Marusudar and another 120MWMW + 12 MW) Dam Toe Power House at Pakal. The Minister informed that the total number of 1095 structures comprising of residential buildings, cow sheds, shops, mosques and schools are proposed to be displaced/dismantled for which compensation is to be paid. She said that the structures have been divided into three categories and provisions for adequate compensation for residential and other structures have been kept in the DPR of the project. The villages in the project area have limited accessibility owing to poor road connectivity and poor infrastructural facilities, she said and added that comprehensive Resettlement and Rehabilitation plan has been prepared to address the issues arising out of land acquisition and identification of Project Affected Families (PAFs). She informed that to address the issues projected by the local population Rs 25 lakh has been proposed for revival and conservation of “Kamad” (red rice) produce in Marwah and Dachan areas of the District. She informed that a revised plan of Rs 6.05 crore for Reservoir Rim Treatment has also been formulated which would go a long way in mitigating the geo-environmental hazards in the project area, especially in reservoir area.(KNO)
